Thonburi Klong Tours
Described by Westerners as the Venice of the East, travel around the Thonburi area, the original City Capital on the West side of the River, was essential by Klongs (Canals) dug to enable movement of people and goods and to link with the Chao Phraya River for more distant travel. You can still travel through this area by long-tailed Speedboat, passing stunning River scenery, floating Markets and stilt Houses, to experience the way of life of the local people, even to this day.
A trip by River is always great fun and provides the opportunity to combine an exciting Klong with a visit to Wat Arun, (the Temple of Dawn). The Royal Barges Museum is another interesting spectacle and staying in Thonburi area for lunch, gives you more time to experience this less visited part of the City.
Schedules are subject to change and transport to the Riverside can be arranged by your Hotel to meet an organised Tour. For the more adventurous, private hire is readily available at the Riverside, with Tour staff looking for customers, but make sure you agree the itinerary, time and price first.
