Silom Road is an important financial district, with Bank Headquarters, Financial Institutions and Office Buildings, mixed with a variety of fine Hotels and small Shopping Centres. But that’s during the daytime, at night the streets are full of Pavement Sellers around the local Soi’s and at the Patpong Night Market, with its infamous Nightlife scene.

Silom Road is an interesting cosmopolitan area of Bangkok, which attracts many visitors, perhaps through being featured in a James Bond film and the more recent movie ‘The Beach’. At night-time, thousands of people visit the Night Market, where everything is ‘for sale’ looking for cheap Hand Bags, Watches and Thai souvenirs at knock down prices, seemingly ignoring the fact that most are fake.

The Entertainment side is another matter, which owes its origins to arranged recreation for American forces, during the Vietnam War. Between Silom and the parallel Surawong Road, compressed into three Soi’s, the non-stop Entertainment strip of Patpong, with ‘A Go Go’ Bars featuring numerous scantily clad young Ladies who ‘Pole Dance’ and perform risqué Cabaret Shows, Music Halls with Live Bands, traditional English and Irish Pubs and Restaurants of all Nationalities and Styles.

Silom Road has excellent connections, with the Skytrain (BTS) Station at Sala Daeng and the Underground (MRT) Station at Silom, conveniently linked by walkway, with short journeys to Riverside, Sathorn, Siam, Chidlom, Ploenchit and Sukhumvit. The major road intersection with the Expressway enables fast travel to Don Muang Domestic Airport or Suvarnabhumi International Airport, usually taking around forty minutes.

Silom is great for its Business connections, Restaurant Scene and Entertainment, but also for its proximity to other important parts of the City.
