Sukhumvit Overview

The largest concentration of upmarket Department Stores, Shopping Malls, Restaurants, Street stalls and Entertainment venues, is to be found along Sukhumvit Road and its numerous Soi’s (side roads). This was the first proper Road to be built in Thailand, is still the longest and extends eastwards all the way to the Cambodian border.
Sukhumvit Guide

Starting from the centre of Bangkok, known locally as ‘Soi Zero’, the Road is lined with a profusion of Tailors, Pool Halls, Beer Bars and Hotels. Between Soi five to eleven, the pavements are crowded with tourist souvenirs and makeshift food and drink stalls, with the raunchy nightlife centres of Nana Plaza (Soi 4) and Soi Cowboy (Soi 21) providing evening entertainment with Pole Dancing Club’s and its surrounding Bar scene. Upmarket nightspots are also here, with ‘Q Bar’ and ‘Bed Supperclub’ on Soi eleven, leading the current hip scene.
Sukhumvit is definitely a Road you have to visit. The Siam Society (Soi 21) founded in 1904 to promote and study Thai Culture, is one of the oldest buildings in the area. The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (Soi 21) hosts large-scale business, cultural and entertainment events, with the Benjakitti Park and Benjasiri Park, providing an oasis in the middle of the City.
The premier Shopping magnet, ‘Emporium’ is where the affluent Thais parade in their finest, Shopping at its many Designer Stores, with an International Food Hall and local-style Food Court and Cinema complex. The whole area is cluttered with upmarket Furniture and Décor Shops, with Bakeries, Coffee Bars, Galleries and Restaurants.
